It will come as little surprise that Vivetta has once again stolen my heart with a winning combination of ruffles, stripes, bows, and lace in the S/S 2012 collection. As if all of that weren't enough, we have here another cat dress which, like the rest of the pieces, is beautifully presented in these shots. Boys are fine and all, but girly aesthetic is something I haven't strayed far from since wearing tiny versions of these outfits as a toddler.

Yesterday at work I picked up an old issue of Vice which includes the most amazing editorial I've seen in ages, featuring thousands and thousands of ladybugs crawling all over a bunch of babes. There's something aesthetically pleasing about how the bugs gather; I'm really enamored with this spread, and not just because it reminded me of my favorite craigslist posting of all time. Most people find it funny that I'm terribly allergic to cats considering I adore them so much I had one tattooed (on my back) for my 23rd birthday. That was already over a month ago and now that fall is here it's a mere two weeks until my return to the epicenter of most things I consider sacred; London, England. With so many travel plans this year, I haven't allowed myself much spending on clothes, etc but (obv) continue to lust over a never ending list of beautiful creations, at the top of which is this pair of majestic cat tapestry Lita boots from Jeffrey Campbell. I have a feeling these might be classified as horrendously tacky by more refined members of the fashion community, but I can't get over the splendor of them.

Lately I've been thinking a lot (more than usual) about being elsewhere, but I cleaned up my room this weekend and am feeling better about spending time where I am until the end of the summer. Even if I'm in a slump and haven't been writing or drawing or taking pictures I'm pleased with, at least I have my personal space as an extension of the way I want things to look. Since childhood I've been somewhat obsessed with surrounding myself with decoration and garnishes of any sort, and am completely guilty of taking comfort in my possessions (though to be fair we're talking cat masks and a staggering surplus of hair bows here, not luxury vehicles).

I'm completely smitten with the book clutches from Olympia Le-Tan which everyone has been going justifiably crazy for since Natalie Portman carried one to the premier of Black Swan. Each piece is handmade and numbered, and these gorgeous creations retail for around $1500. Safe to say it shall remain but a dream of mine to own one, which if given the choice would def be Nabokov's Lolita in case anyone was curious. I really like Dracula's eyebrows too though.

France Gall is yet another of my favorite style icons who embodies everything I love about sixties girl style (previously featured: Tennessee Thomas, Marianne Faithfull). Her look was as dreamy as her music, which features prominently on my iPod. As Serge Gainsbourg's French pop protege France hit all the wardrobe high notes: baby doll dresses, bows, knee socks, and always the most perfect little black mary janes. Pay special attention to the ruffled polka dot frock below!

L'echo is one of my favorite songs of all time which you must give a listen for the piano alone. It makes me float away each and every time.

Rachel Antonoff's shoe collaboration with Bass and the accompanying lookbook featuring Tennessee Thomas make me want to weep (tears of joy), skip through a meadow, and then perhaps sing a duet with a bluebird. I was beyond thrilled to find this coat (which has already earned me countless Little Red Riding Hood taunts) on a recent trip to Value Village for a mere $20!!! It might just be heavy enough to function suitably in -30C, which is only an added bonus considering how perfect the black velvet bow adorned collar is. Surviving in a climate comparable to that of Siberia (srsly though), it's near impossible to stay warm or at least avoid hypothermia during winter months; the faux fur accessories from asos are among my coveted winter pieces at the moment. No coincidence that the most ridiculous(ly amazing) ones are featured first.

The Lula Pop Up Shop has moved from Harvey Nichols in London and is now at The Bay in Toronto, where Leith Clark (above) celebrated the 5th anniversary of her beautiful magazine last week. I picked up the latest issue of The Gentlewoman the other day, and while there are a lot of lovely things and people featured in it, I am still very much a Lula girl at heart (who rarely leaves home without some sort of frill, ribbon, or ruffle on my being). Pieces featured in the shop were designed exclusively for Lula by the likes of Miu Miu, Sonia Rykiel, and Rodarte and they are every bit as soft, glittering, and dreamy as one would expect.

I'm in the process of assembling my Hamburglar ensemble for Halloween 2010, but have been reminiscing over costumes of yesteryears and admit that Andy Warhol (me) and Edie Sedgwick (Lisa) from awhile back still take the cake. They cost next to nothing and earned us a lot of compliments!

Warhol's early fashion illustrations (Vogue, Harper's Bazaar) are among my favorite inspirational doodles to be found in any of the art books I own. I'm always amazed and endlessly impressed by the aesthetics of simplicity as my own preferences have always involved adding more, and more, and more. I love the coziness of clutter, but these have always managed to leave me satisfied with just a couple of lines and a few details here and there.

I bought my winter boots yesterday (more on them to come) and am now thinking about coats, mittens, scarves, etc. I've got two fur hats which I can't wait to wear, but am in need of a parka to get me through the months when the temp hovers around -30C. lily+jae have a number of pieces I am currently lusting over (see above), and was one of many Canadian lines carried at the pretty little shop I used to work at. This collection has been posted by everyone and their grandma's pet goldfish, but I've waited until now to gush over how obsessed I am with Alexa Chung for Madewell because it's a) seasonally appropriate and b) available beginning this week (Sept 9). I love and would wear everything here, as the collection is not too juvenile in it's sweetness nor lacking in sexier short hems I am fond of. My favorite piece is the brown velvet dress which looks so cozy I might be tempted to hibernate in it all winter.

Apparently it was inspired by Sedmikrásky, which features an amazing wardrobe throughout the film. My quest for the perfect dress continues after my darling mother ordered my dream frock for my birthday and it ended up being much too small. (Note: LBD has been great about accepting the return and are highly recommended in spite of my tragic circumstances!) I'm obsessed with patterns of any sort but very particular about getting them just right, which Motel @ Topshop has indeed achieved with their rough edged polka dots. The shape of the blue dress is to die for, but the peach one has pockets which are an absolute must if we're talking perfection. The search goes on...

Andrea recently posted photos from Marianne Breslauer, who (upon further investigation I have learned) was a German photographer during the Weimar Republic and responsible for generating some exceptionally beautiful images. I'm much more captivated by portraiture than by fashion photography (in general) but can't keep my eyes off of the spots in these.

Here's me in my new hat which is one of very few I've ever found that fit my massive cranium. I turned 22 yesterday which is a number I have always been preoccupied with (in a good way) for reasons I can't explain. My high hopes for better times than the horrendous past year provided me with have already been fulfilled as my birthday was by far the best in recent memory. I couldn't be happier with life in general at the moment, and am looking forward to the rest of my summer although it has been and will most likely remain somewhat uneventful. My days are mostly quiet but appreciated and they've been passing so quickly. I can't tell you how long I have waited for things to settle into this.

I haven't been a super fan of Mr. Jacobs' past few collections, and curse his name on a weekly basis as I continue to wear my beautiful Marc by Marc flats which batter my feet like no others. But upon viewing the pieces from Marc Jacobs Resort 2011, I was reminded of why I love his designs so much. Everything here strikes a perfect balance between sweet and sexy, which as a girl in her early twenties I find is rarely accomplished by designers or individuals. Behold!

This title translates to "Daisies" and follows the shenanigans and hijinx of two Czech teenage girls who overindulge in food, alcohol, and the hearts of older men. Perhaps needless to say, it was banned by the communist government at the time. I'd been noticing bits and pieces of the film around tumblr as the set and costume design encompasses a lot of what I find aesthetically pleasing (especially when combined) including florals, ruffles, velvet, short skirts, lacy undies, magazine clippings, and the thickest of dark eyeliner. It's tough to say what is "sixties inspired" in any design discipline these days as so much of what was developed then has simply evolved and will never disappear from the mainstream, for good reason!

This frock is ridiculous in the best possible way. I'm not sure how wearable it would be, but I'm considering this as an option for my birthday ensemble (which I obv dress up for even though I hate celebrating it and want nothing more than to eat my weight in sushi with my best friends present on that day this year). I'd say whoever designed this had some inspiration from Vivetta S/S 2010, which is one of the most lush collections I've ever seen.

I've also been obsessed with Lily Allen's dress in her video for The Fear, which is about as perfect as they come. I haven't been able to find out the designer; does anyone know who made this?

Similar to half the universe, I really love a lot of what Alexa Chung wears. I try not to reblog much of this type of thing simply because a million others do it better than me, but those velvet shorts (part of her amazing collection for Madewell) are too good for words. It saddens me that such fabrics all but disappear in warm weather, though perhaps these floral booties could remedy that.

The prospect of these Opening Ceremony booties with an all black ensemble is enough to bring a petite tear to my eye. I've become completely enamoured with the ankle socks that are showing up everywhere these days, which I do believe the above would be beautifully suited for.

In other bow adorned footwear developments, I was about to hail these sandals as the best I have come across in a long while, prior to discovering they are from Little Marc, which is Jacobs' line for 0-12 year olds. This is reminiscent of the time I spotted what was the most absolutely perfect pink and white party dress I had ever seen in my entire existence, possibly including past lives, and was staring moon-eyed with my nose pressed up against the shop window for quite some time before realizing it was a children's boutique. I think my taste in fashion may have a lot to do with my temptation to smirk whenever I'm referred to as a 'woman' (which admittedly isn't often). Then again that may be entirely due to my fondness for poop jokes, but who's to say?

As someone whose natural skin tone is so white I'm practically blue come the start of summer, dressing for warm weather makes me very nervous. Also, I've never understood the idea of less being more when it comes to clothing oneself, as I really do believe that (strategically) covering something up is sexier than letting it show in almost every instance. The theatre at my uni is showing one of Wes Anderson's flicks each Tuesday in March, which has been nice to look forward to. I've bought 67980893984535234 pairs of wedge/platforms in the past few months, and yet the Acne Atacoma still give me heart palpitations. The above are from 80%20 and pretty dreamy, even if they don't give a comparable 12cm (!) rise. They've served me well all winter as they're so comfy; I can walk long distances, dance for hours, kick the neighbour's satanic toddler in the face, and accomplish any other daily activities in them with great ease.

On the subject of all things frivolous and/or fashionable, I've jumped on the tumblr bandwagon despite my (previously held) belief that it encourages the downfall of creativity on the internets. Such may not be the case after all but the absolute last thing I need is yet another outlet for online fuckery, so follow me and stay tuned for the consequent failing of my university degree!

Upon experiencing the first whim of my entire life, I went and done got my septum pierced before Christmas. Also ended up with new glasses around that time after losing my beloved ray bans, which I never ever would have quit wearing had they not mysteriously evaporated (see: tumbled from purse unnoticed when I was intoxicated) at some point during the course of a night. The perspex frames are genuine vintage and have earned me more compliments than any other pair I've ever worn; wonder who on earth donned them before me!

I took these out of boredom awhile ago and look like such a ragamuffin tween in them (I think it's the hair), which was an age I remember most fondly...
